The live music scene on the Westside continues to grow as Central SAPC on 14th and Santa Monica Blvd has added new summer residencies. This July Central has hosted New York’s Indie brother-sister duo Blondfire for 3 Tuesdays, with 2 more shows tonight 7/24 and next Tuesday 7/31. Best of all, the residency is 100% free, so for those readers on the Westside or those that have been looking for an excuse to venture West of the 405, check out Blondfire @ Central tonight and let us know what you think of both the music and venue!

The live music scene in LA is centered around the Sunset scene and the artistic community that has developed in the Echo Park area. There are so few venues in Venice, Santa Monica, Culver City, and Brentwood, and even fewer major acts. Yet every First Friday Abbot Kinney is packed with young people walking the streets enticed by the allure of simply food trucks and a few bars. Imagine if they could see a great band and still stay local! The market for live music on the Westside seems to be there, but we won’t know for sure until some place decides to bring in elite musical acts and try it. Central may not have the size to support a large crowd, but it is taking a step in the right direction, and we can only hope it grows from here!
